We’re trying something new to keep our students reading, beat the Spring Fever slump, and maybe even raise a little money for our school (bonus!).
Mitchell Elementary is launching a Read-A-Thon starting Monday, March 2nd (Read Across America Day) and continuing through the month of March!
Here’s how it works:
✅ Students log 20 minutes of reading per night, 4 nights a week
✅ They can earn prizes just for reading!
✅ Families must register their child to participate
The main goal? Reading, reading, and more reading! The fundraising part is a fun bonus — but this month is all about getting our kids excited about books.

📢 Early Dismissal – Friday, December 19th
There will be an early dismissal on Friday, December 19th.
🚌 Buses and car riders will begin loading at 11:50 AM.
Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 6th.

Mitchell County Schools will be on a two hour delay tomorrow, Wednesday, December 3, due to snow that is currently falling in areas of our county and the potential for refreeze on wet roads tonight. Buses will run clear roads only. If the decision to cancel school is needed, you will be notified by 7:00am. Staff may report on a one hour delay. Buildings will open for drop-offs one hour later than normal time.

We’re excited to share our new Remote Learning Policy for the 2025–2026 school year! 🌟 Teachers are helping students learn how to use Google Classroom and join Google Meet for mini-lessons, so we’re ready to take Remote Learning to the next level.
