SUN Bucks: A new food assistance program for school children. Starting this summer, families that qualify can expect to receive $120 per eligible child in grocery-buying benefits on a debit-like card. Mitchell County Schools is thrilled to announce that our new school Mitchell Elementary/Mitchell Middle will be opening in August 2024! We are thankful to Vannoy, Cope Architecture, and all of the sub-contractors for working tirelessly to make this possible. An August move in will be much smoother for our students and staff. The state-of-the-art facilities will be a wonderful place for our students to thrive and for our staff to work. We will keep everyone posted as we prepare for the opening in August. Thank you for your patience and support as we have worked to bring Mitchell County a first-class new school. Go Miners!

Calendar Reminder

Due to the current weather conditions across the county, Mitchell County Schools will operate on a TWO HOUR DELAY today, Tuesday, February 13, 2024. We will continue to monitor conditions. If further changes to our schedule are necessary, that decision will be made by 7:30am.

Bulldog Families: Doors will open at 9:05 in the morning. We are continuing our NC Check-Ins, so please make sure your student is on time and their iPad is charged. The tardy bell will ring at 9:40. Thank you, and have a great evening!

Due to snow that has fallen in parts of our county today and overnight forecasts for additional snow, Mitchell County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay Monday, January 29. We will assess conditions in the morning and make a decision by 7:30am, if a change in schedule is necessary

Buses will not run the following roads tomorrow, January 24th: Charles Creek, Ted Byrd Rd, Stewart Rd, Sparks Rd, Cleve Silvers, Kona, Rose's Branch, Lower Hanging Rock and Deyton Rd.

Mitchell County Schools will be on a regular schedule Wednesday, January 24. Buses will run safe roads only.

There will be no level-up tutoring tomorrow. Tutoring will finish this week on Thursday. School Spirit Day will be tomorrow in support of our basketball teams playing in the tournament semi-final! Wear your maroon, black and white! No hats! Go Bulldogs!

*Reminder* If you live on a road that a bus could not run this morning, the afternoon route will not run either. Please make arrangements to have your student picked up if this is the case. Car Rider dismissal begins at 2:10

If you ride bus 128, your bus will be arriving late. 128 has been taken to the bus garage for repairs and another bus taken for this morning. Mr. Garland is still driving.

We understand that there are a few roads that buses will be unable to run and will try to post those to social media later tonight.
