A big CONGRATULATIONS to our own Nathan Hicks for his DonorsChoose Grant! Thank you to everyone who supported his grant and continue to support our staff at Greenlee. It's going to be an amazing year!
"After my second year at Greenlee, I felt limited by the available equipment and concerned that I would have to repeat the same activities with students each year. This summer, I started a DonorsChoose page in an effort to acquire new equipment. It was successfully funded this week, thanks to several local individuals, Greenlee parents, local businesses, and even a national business—Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Thanks to this, our students at Greenlee will be able to participate in new activities like pickleball and other games to encourage cooperation and teamwork. It will also allow us to upgrade our existing basketballs, ensuring that each student in a class has access to a properly sized ball to use individually.
I have also received donations outside of the DonorsChoose page to start a golfing unit with the students this year. I am thankful to work in a community that has accepted me and treated me like one of their own. I am excited to start this school year!"

Our BBQ with Mitchell County Schools retired staff was so much fun last year, we are doing it again! If you retired from Mitchell County Schools from any role, please join us on Wednesday, August 13 at 5:00pm for a BBQ!
We don't have current contact information for all retired staff and don't want to leave anyone out, so we are just depending on social media and word-of-mouth to share the invitation.

Mitchell County CTE would like to congratulate the following students on their hard work and creativity on this contest. We are proud of you!

From all of us at the Office of Early Learning, we wish you a Happy Read Across America Week! We encourage educators to share the Digital Children's Reading Initiative (DCRI) Literacy at Home webpages and resources. DCRI Literacy at Home offers engaging activities organized by grade to support families as they work with children to develop skills in the foundational pillars of literacy: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and oral language. As children progress in these areas, their reading experience becomes more enjoyable and valuable.

Here is the breakfast and lunch menu for March.
