SUN Bucks: A new food assistance program for school children. Starting this summer, families that qualify can expect to receive $120 per eligible child in grocery-buying benefits on a debit-like card. IMPORTANT: Some families will get benefits automatically sent to the mailing address in their child’s school record. Update your child’s mailing address by contacting your child’s school. Mitchell County Schools is thrilled to announce that our new school Mitchell Elementary/Mitchell Middle will be opening in August 2024! We are thankful to Vannoy, Cope Architecture, and all of the sub-contractors for working tirelessly to make this possible. An August move in will be much smoother for our students and staff. The state-of-the-art facilities will be a wonderful place for our students to thrive and for our staff to work. We will keep everyone posted as we prepare for the opening in August. Calendar Reminder

Due to the current weather conditions across the county, Mitchell County Schools will operate on a TWO HOUR DELAY today, Tuesday, February 13, 2024. We will continue to monitor conditions. If further changes to our schedule are necessary, that decision will be made by 7:30am.

Due to snow that has fallen in parts of our county today and overnight forecasts for additional snow, Mitchell County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay Monday, January 29. We will assess conditions in the morning and make a decision by 7:30am, if a change in schedule is necessary

Mitchell County Schools will be on a regular schedule Wednesday, January 24. Buses will run safe roads only.

Mitchell County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, January 23. We understand that there are a few roads that buses will be unable to run and will try to post those to social media later tonight. If you still have concerns with safe travel in the morning, please contact your principal.

Mitchell County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 22 for students. It will be a Schedule 3 Teacher Workday. There will be no remote learning for students. Staff, please report on Schedule 3 so maintenance and custodial staff can clear parking lots and sidewalks.

Mitchell County Schools will operate on a Remote Education Day tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17. Please follow guidelines set forth by your school for remote days. Practices, games, and school-sponsored events are also cancelled tomorrow due to cold temperatures and wind chills.

Mitchell County Schools will be closed today, Wednesday, January 10th. Additional snowfall over night and sub-freezing temperatures have caused scattered black ice and snow covered roads in areas of our county. This will be a Schedule 2 Workday for staff.

Mitchell County Schools will be on a 2 Hour Delay, tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10th. A 2hr delay allows our buses and student drivers to travel after daylight and see possible issues better. Roads will be checked in the morning and a decision made before 7:30, if necessary.
