Staff, please be aware of the black ice threat in the morning until around 10am. This will not be a remote learning day for students.

We, at Gouge Elementary, would like all parents to be made aware of what happened with the activity bus on the way back from the field trip today. The brakes overheated, causing smoke to come to the back of the bus. The bus at no time lost the brakes. All students were evacuated from the bus safely. Avery County Schools brought a bus for students and teachers to load until a bus from Mitchell County arrived. Thank you to Avery County Schools!!
