The Internet offers us, as career development professionals, a huge variety of resources to use as we work with students and clients. There are so many in fact, that searching for the best or most useful ones can take many hours of online research. It is our hope that we have done most of the preliminary work for you. We have undertaken a time-consuming effort to collect, organize, curate, and publish online, a listing of free, current, and credible resources that are available on the Internet and are useful to career counselors, coaches, and specialists as they work with clients. The point is to list the best resources, as determined by a group of capable volunteers, not necessarily all possible ones.

North Carolina Star Jobs is a new and simplified way to help you identify promising occupations. Star ratings are assigned based on wages, projected growth rate, and projected job openings, and each occupation has a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. Occupations with 5 stars are considered to have much better career prospects than occupations with fewer stars.

ASVAB Career Exploration Program
The ASVAB was developed by the U.S. Department of Defense. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program was developed with input from a panel of career development experts and designed to encourage students to increase their level of self-knowledge and to understand how that information could be linked to civilian and military occupational characteristics.
The ASVAB Program recently was re-designed to be helpful to virtually all students, whether they are planning on immediate employment after high school in civilian or military occupations, or further education at a university, community college, or vocational institution.
